Baku Seasonal Overview
High Season
Baku's high season, typically from June to August, features hot, sunny weather with average temperatures around 25-30°C, often rising higher. The city embraces the warmth, and its atmosphere is lively and bustling, extending into the long evenings. Upon arrival, you will find Baku in full swing, with its seaside promenade, known as the Boulevard, filled with people enjoying the Caspian breeze and the extended daylight hours.
Outdoor life defines Baku in summer. Cafes and restaurants expand onto pavements, and the city's parks become popular gathering spots. Major events such as the Baku Jazz Festival or other cultural performances often take place during this period, drawing large crowds. The Fountains Square area buzzes with activity, and visitors can experience a vibrant, energetic city at its most dynamic.
Low Season
The low season, generally from November to March, brings cooler temperatures, averaging 5-10°C, with cold winds common, especially from the Caspian Sea. You might experience crisp, clear days, or occasionally snow in the winter months, transforming the city's appearance. The pace slows down considerably, offering a more reflective and intimate experience of Baku.
While outdoor activities are less prominent, the city's cultural scene remains active. Museums, art galleries, and theatres provide warmth and entertainment, and the grand architecture of the city feels more stark and dramatic under the winter sky. Local life shifts indoors, with a focus on cosy cafes and traditional tea houses. The city centre, particularly around the Old City, feels quieter, allowing for a deeper appreciation of its history without the summer crowds.
