High Season
Kalibo's high season typically runs from December to May, marked by drier weather and cooler temperatures, especially from December to February, averaging around 25-30°C. Upon arrival at Kalibo International Airport, you will notice the bustling atmosphere as the city thrives with visitors. The skies are generally clear and sunny, inviting outdoor activities and making exploration comfortable.
This period is defined by a lively energy, particularly in January when the world-renowned Ati-Atihan Festival takes over the city. Streets burst with colourful parades, tribal dances, and music, drawing large crowds and transforming Kalibo into a vibrant cultural hub. Daily life shifts to a festive pace, with locals and visitors enjoying the pleasant climate and numerous events, making it a prime time to experience Kalibo’s distinct cultural identity.
Low Season
The low season, from June to November, brings the monsoon season to Kalibo, characterised by higher rainfall and humidity. Temperatures remain warm, typically between 28-32°C, but the frequent showers can be intense, especially from July to September. The city adopts a quieter, more relaxed rhythm during this period, with fewer visitors arriving.
Daily life adapts to the rain, with indoor activities becoming more prominent. While outdoor excursions might be limited by the weather, the landscape turns lush and green. This season offers a more authentic glimpse into local life, free from the tourist crowds. You will find a calmer atmosphere, allowing for a more intimate experience of Kalibo's culture and community, distinct from the high-season festivities.
