High Season
Lima's high season, typically from December to April, aligns with its summer months. You will arrive to warm, sunny weather, high humidity, and clear skies, especially along the coast. The average daytime temperature often ranges between 25°C and 30°C. This period transforms the city, inviting outdoor activities and a vibrant, energetic atmosphere.
The city's social calendar flourishes with outdoor concerts, beach festivals, and street fairs. Many locals head to the beaches south of Lima, making the city feel bustling yet relaxed. The summer brings a lively rhythm to daily life, with evenings often spent dining outdoors or strolling along the Malecon. This season presents Lima at its most vivacious, defined by sunshine and a palpable sense of celebration.
Low Season
The low season, from May to November, brings cooler temperatures and a characteristic coastal mist known as 'garúa'. Upon arrival, you will notice the sky often appears grey, especially in the mornings, with temperatures typically ranging from 15°C and 20°C. This cooler, cloudier weather means less humidity, offering a different, often more introspective, experience of the city.
During these months, Lima takes on a calmer pace, focusing more on its renowned culinary scene and indoor cultural attractions like museums and galleries. While outdoor events are less frequent, local traditions and public holidays, such as Santa Rosa de Lima in August, offer unique cultural insights. The low season reveals a more authentic, local side of Lima, as residents embrace a quieter, more reflective daily rhythm.
